If you are a newcomer to the world of fly fishing, then lake fishing is your easiest starting point. With no current to contend with and relatively free of obstacles they offer the perfect place to learn to fly fish.
Fly Odyssey uses four private lakes for beginners and group days and can supply all the necessary equipment for your day.
Harting Lakes
These attractive lakes are located off the A3, 10 minutes from the market town of Petersfield. They offer easy casting for beginners with a dry fly only lake allowing sight casting similar to river fishing. They are perfect for an introduction to fly fishing and are not open to the public at any time.
To visit the lakes, you can book a private casting lesson for an hour upwards, from beginner level to advanced, or a half day fly fishing experience for up to 2 anglers. We can provide all equipment for the session if this is required.
Bossington Estate Lake
Located on the famous Bossington Estate near Stockbridge, this lake is aquifer fed and renowned for great water clarity. The lake can be booked exclusively for up to six anglers or can be taken be booked by a single rod for a half or full day. There is also a comfortable chalet on the banks of the lake, with lunch facilities. This lake is the perfect choice for anglers wanting to fishing together, with some rather large trout to catch!
Wherwell Estate Lake
The Wherwell Estate lake is located on the upper end of the River Test, in the village of Wherwell. This is a well stocked lake with a large fishing hut and good facilities. This is a perfect location for beginners, with easy casting and fabulous fish.
Avington Lakes
The lakes at Avington Trout Fishery are notable in the world of angling for the quality and size of the trout stocked. With three crystal clear lakes fed by the river Itchen, it is the perfect location for those who want to stalk fish. The lakes are mainly stocked with rainbow trout but you may be lucky to strike a brown trout, ranging from an average size of 4lb to double figure fish.
The fishery is suitable for beginners who find it easier to site their fish. For the experienced angler, there is the challenge of stalking the fabulous double figure fish.
